About

“Labors of Love: Experiencing the Divine Mother” consists of one sixteen-foot tall, conical, immersive installation, representative of the Divine Mother. This work is intentionally decorated to instill feelings of awe, safety, and love in the viewer. This installation is completely biodegradable, reminding viewers of their connection to the Earth, also known as “our Mother”. Bamboo, twine, cheesecloth, paper, beeswax, castor wax, dried oranges, fabric scraps, and dried pussywillows and roses have been utilized to represent the Divine Mother. Additionally, these materials represent labors of love, in various forms as well as balance and gentle strength. Gentle projected imagery of water is used to further the narrative of the Divine Mother while creating softness, warmth, and movement within the installation. As viewers enter this installation, they are filled with feelings of expansive love, which is ultimately what this divine matriarchal figure represents.
